We met friends there for a Sunday lunch a few weeks ago. We were a table of 7, and the service was awful. The server couldn't tell us what lager was on draught, and agreed it would be a good idea for one of us to go and check. We waited a while for our food order to be taken. The food was good, with most of us having the roast, which was nice. We then sat there with our empty plates in front of us for nearly an hour. We weren't asked about a 2nd drink or condiments when the food was brought, so one of the group had to get up to go and order another round and ask for condiments. We were also not asked how the food was, which is unusual. We were then given dessert menus, and after about 15 mins of waiting for the server to come back and take our order, we had to go and find her to ask her to take our order. When we ordered, I asked for the bill to be brought with the desserts (to speed things up). This didn't happen, so I had to get up again to go and ask for the bill where I found 3/4 servers stood chatting. There was no acknowledgement of the slow service or care to ask about our experience once finished. I've worked in the service industry before, so I know it can be hard, but that was very poor. It was such a shame to have this experience after hearing great things! Maybe it was an off day, but that was our experience.

Just got back from my 70th surprise Birthday meal with unexpected family and guests.The food was superb and extreemly tasty and would recomend you pay a visit to this establishment.

A quintessential English thatched pub set in the lovely village of Elton, Cambs. Situated on the village green it is ideal to sit outside on a summer's day taking in the sun with one of the many beers that are served here. When cooler nights draw in there is a log fire to make the bar feel even more cosier.There is a restaurant for formal dining or a variety of bar meals to be had in the general bar area. Booking is advisable for the restaurant. Although the cost of meals would be considered higher than other establishments, you can expect excellent quality for what you pay. Personally I find the cost of wine and spirits steadily increasing in all restaurants and pubs, The Crown is no exception. I wouldn't reduce the star rating because of this one point as this is the way of the world. Overall The Crown is a lovely place to visit either just to stop by on a cycle ride or for a more formal occasion.

I stayed here whilst travelling on business last week, the Wadenhoe room is really comfortable and very clean.
The food is excellent as always. Highly Recommended!

Popped in for lunch with 18 others after a group walk and was served a good value, well presented meal. Our food was efficiently delivered...hot, freshly cooked and tasty. I must return for an evening soon

From the moment I arrived and until I left I can't complain about anything. The room was lovely, clean and tidy and the breakfast and dinner service was fantastic. The staff were under pressure as they were a chef down but that didn't change the length of wait - The meals and menu were great with plenty of choice (not too little & not too much) I actually happened to miss breakfast on my last day and they very kindly made me up a breakfast bap which was lovely !!
I've already booked to stay here next month (June) and I am looking forward to it :)

Excellent family meal recently, in The Snug, with easy access outside so the children could run around.
Great staff, tasty food (you may only need two courses😂) and room took all 17 of us...thank you.

Haven't stayed at the Inn.
But the meals are delicious & tasty. A good variety to choose from.
Moderately priced.
Cosy atmosphere.

I have visited for drinks and on another occasion food.
I recall visiting this beautiful pub when they had their golden retriever who was so friendly.
The second time we visited for Sunday lunch and my wife had a burger meal!
They resolved a slight issue with my wife's burger but my lunch was excellent and the staff were very accommodating and helpful too.
The pub is set in a gorgeous village and is only a few minutes and is only a 5 minutes drive from the A605.
Very good food in a great little pub.
